Smartphone alternatives or "kid-safe" phones prevent 24/7 access to the internet, but give parents piece of mind to be in touch.  Instead of "locking down" an Iphone (which is almost impossible to do despite parent controls), many experts suggest kid-safe and teen-safe phones.  We are lucky to live in an age where these phones are a possibility and we have the data to show just how unsafe traditional smartphones are for our kids.
